SRINAGAR: In a significant step towards promoting startups and entrepreneurship, the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) hosted an Entrepreneurship and Startup Meet at its Pampore campus, where it launched the Startup Policy 2024–27, the Startup Idea Challenge, and a free-to-use DPR Portal.
The event was attended by the government officials, startup founders, innovators and trainees.

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, the chief guest, underscored the administration’s vision to position Jammu and Kashmir as a leading hub for startups and job creation. “Our focus is on fostering a dynamic ecosystem to drive entrepreneurship and sustainable employment,” he said.
The event featured 20 exhibition stalls showcasing innovative products and services by startups, RAMP trainees, and JKEDI-supported units. Choudhary engaged with exhibitors, commending their creativity and enthusiasm.
Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Vikramjit Singh, highlighted the critical role of institutional support in nurturing local enterprises. MLA Pampore Hasnain Masoodi also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of startups and entrepreneurship.
An interactive session between policymakers and entrepreneurs facilitated valuable feedback, fostering stronger collaboration between the government and the startup community.
The event concluded with the presentation of mementoes, a formal vote of thanks by the Director of JKEDI Khalid Jehangir, providing a platform for further collaboration among startups, mentors and government official.
